Marine compound switches your longevity gene ‘ON’

Who wouldn’t want to live longer, be healthier and stay active?

Groundbreaking new research has revealed not just a gene that controls longevity but also a simple compound that activates the gene — creating its own anti-aging therapy!

So, kick those old-fashioned ideas to the curb…

Getting older doesn’t have to mean slowing down, getting sick, and a downhill slide to death.

Learn how you can activate your longevity gene and get the benefits of this natural anti-aging protocol.

The compound that started it all

Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid found in marine plants and animals. It’s also one of the most powerful antioxidants available.

This means it reduces the number of free radicals in your body as well as your body’s oxidative load, offering protection to your cells.

Astaxanthin is found in wild Pacific sockeye salmon, krill, algae, red trout, shrimp, crab, and lobster. Its vibrant red pigmentation is what gives these marine animals and plants their intense coloring

The research

The University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and Cardax, Inc., a Honolulu-based life sciences company, have announced amazing new results of a study involving using this powerful compound to turn on a gene called FOXO3 “Longevity Gene.”

In the study, mice were fed either normal food or food containing a low or high dose of the astaxanthin compound. The animals that were fed the higher amount of the Astaxanthin compound experienced a significant increase in the activation of the FOXO3 gene in their heart tissue.

In fact, the ones that received larger amounts of the antioxidant had a 90 percent increase in the activation of this gene, demonstrating how critical astaxanthin is for good health and a long life.

What it means for you

According to the researchers, only 1 in 3 people have the “Longevity” version of the FOXO3 gene.

But don’t lose hope.

Researchers also say that everyone has the “anti-aging” version of the gene and by activating it, you can get the additional benefits associated with the longevity one as well.

This is where the astaxanthin comes in.

Taking 4 to 6 mg of astaxanthin per day is recommended. However, if you’re an athlete or someone who does a lot of physical work or exercise, then 12 mg per day is generally recommended. It is important to note that since astaxanthin is a fat-soluble carotenoid, it works best when taking it with food, as fat aids in the absorption of the antioxidant.

Astaxanthin is also known to lower blood pressure. So, if you are on blood pressure medication, be sure to talk to your doctor before taking it, in case he wants to make some adjustments.

Where to find it

If you want to live longer, you’ll also want your brain to stay sharp. That’s why krill oil is an excellent source to get your astaxanthin. Krill offers many additional benefits, including boosting your brain health — and because it’s a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, it provides the healthy fat needed to enhance astaxanthin absorption.

You can easily find this oil from tiny shrimp-like crustaceans online or at your local health food store, and just follow dosing directions.

Thanks to this powerful antioxidant that gives marine life their gorgeous color, turning on your longevity gene couldn’t be easier. If you want to slow down the aging process and live healthier, longer, consider adding astaxanthin in to your daily routine.
